So the BBC seems to have suddenly realised they have more stuff in their archive they can show in the afternoons than Diagnosis Murder and Murder, She Wrote. The pilot today and tomorrow and the series proper from Thursday. This makes me a very happy girl :D

The Bunnies have got their wish! Seriously though, this news has me buzzing (I love Russell, I think he did great things bringing it back, but seriously, enough already. We know you think Ten's amazing and Rose was wonderful. Stop it.). I am now actually really looking forward to the next full series after the specials, and wondering what Mr Moffat has in store for us. If I were a real geek, I'd be wondering about now if he has an arc in mind something similar to the one Andrew Cartmel was trying to put in place for Seven when the original series was axed, but you all know I'm not a real geek, so I won't be wondering that. At all.

*has glee*

My appointment for the physio has come through for tomorrow afternoon. I sense immense pain in my immediate future. Ah well, if it helps!

I stole this from [livejournal.com profile] dracothelizard, as usual...

The Other Fandoms Meme - this is a meme wherein you have to say everything you know about those of your friends' fandoms that you know only through fannish representations, rather than through ever having watched any.

So, basically, things you learned because you read it on someone's friendslist, saw it in an icon, read about it in the newspaper, know of it because it's pop culture, that sort of thing.

Here goes:

Silent Hill: So there's this dude called James - who is not James Norrington, May, Bond, Hook, Cook or 'from Team Rocket', but does look alarmingly like Jesse Spencer - whose wife died three years ago. He has just received a letter from - his wife. Instead of doing the math - dude! Your DEAD WIFE is sending you letters! - he goes traipsing off to some ghost town called Silent Hill. Except it turns out that she's not been dead that long; she was really ill and he killed her three days before and is having a major breakdown, and Silent Hill is a representation of his guilt. Or something. Also there's a big monster with a triangular head that everyone is scared of and if you hear static on the radio, that isn't good, despite it meaning that Silent Hill is the one place you can't hear Chris Moyles. Oh, and it's possibly the only game in the world where a PLANK OF WOOD is a better bet against the nasties than a FUCKING CHAINSAW!

Jeremy Clarkson would not be affected by Silent Hill.

House: Dude! Jesse Spencer is in this! I had a bit of a crush on him when he was in Neighbours! Hugh Laurie has a flawless American accent, House has about as much bedside manner as I have height and it's all a pun on Sherlock Holmes so can't be all bad. Also there's something about ducklings, but I could have taken that up wrong...

Edited to avoid the possibility of Australian actors having zombie spouses...

A little while ago, in an ill-fated attempt to corrupt [livejournal.com profile] rionaleonhart to the ways of Ant and Dec (I only suceeded in scarring her for life with the video for Lets Get Ready To Rhumble) I compiled a list of links to various Ant and Dec clips on youtube. 'It is a shame,' thought I, as I selflessly trawled the search function, 'that there aren't more of their pop videos up'.

I think someone heard me.

Cut for the sake of f-lists and sanity - a bunch of links )

I have eaten so much good food over the last two days that I may not need to eat again until the summer.

Right, people not from That Community may want to go make a cuppa for this bit. For the rest of you; Bored out of my SKULL with the telly and with nothing else better to do, thought I'd watch some old TG eps (It's research, I still owe [livejournal.com profile] dracothelizard at least one of the crazy crackfics she's talked me into...) anyway, just got to the news bit in 03x03 (the one where they drown Hammond, and has the concept Jag that looks like a vodka bar...) where they're talking about that Nissan recall and I had a complete brainfart. Richard and James are no strangers to roleplay. The whole 'Yes, what is it Watkins?' exchange... Please tell me I'm not the only one who saw that...

Yes, I am wrong in the head - blame the brandy sauce.

Right, the rest of you can come back now. God, it's been a good couple of days. I'm clinging onto these moments - always waiting for the other shoe to drop, you know? Everything's been so quiet and good, and I just feel... content.

Not used to that, not at this time of year!

I have a little something for all the people on my f-list (and by god there are a lot of you!) who are paid up members of the Barrowman Appreciation Society. Enjoy!

I have a first line here (one I really like, too) that wants to be something more, but nothing to go with it. I hate when that happens.

This time next week Christmas will be over. It's scary how fast this year has gone in. I'm feeling left behind again. I'm SO not where I hoped I'd be.

Writers Group dinner tomorrow night... I don't even know if I can face it... if my shoulder keeps on like it is now, I may just give it a miss.

Feh, I need to pull my bloody socks up and stop whinging. *Goes off to watch S4 TG eps*

So I've been scribbling away in my big purple notebook, and I realise I've just had one of those moments where you look at what you've just written and go "Where the fuck did that bit come from?!"

I swear, I was shaking my head and asking my muse, "So, why did you want to yell that at him, eh?"

And the bastard's not telling me!

I need another fandom, these boys are beginning to worry me... or I'm beginning to worry me... or something ;) (*always says this and never goes very far*)

*-*-*-*

In other news, I've just collected up what the Writers' Group consider to be my best six poems of the last couple of years, and got them fit for publication. Yep, we're doing another book! It's all rather exciting. We have a couple of new people who are a bit... well... *pulls face* but most of the old guard are putting things in, so it's still a really happy thing :)
littlemoose: A photograph of a vivd blue swallowtail butterfly against an orange stucco wall (crumbs chief!)
I have figured out how to get the digibox coming through the video recorder *grin*

Which means I just watched Captain Jack snog the Doctor, oh, how many times...? ;)

It doesn't take much to make me happy, does it?

*goes off to do some serious iconning*

Dr Who spoilers... )

I need a Jack icon... from tonight's ep... I'm so predictable! *giggles*

I have made (never look a gift photoshop in the mouth, folks!) hogwarts crest icons for each of the houses (I wanted a gryffindor one for ages, but there were none I liked...). Want, take (but credit please?); that's why I made all the houses, even though I'll never use them :)

Edited to make a little tweak to the Gryffindor one

Here's a fun little juxtaposition - Before dinner, I was reading slash, very explicit NC-17 slash. Just as I was preparing to nip back upstairs to finish the story after dinner, we were visited by the new parish curate on his rounds. Nice fella, for a priest, bit mad, not too up himself, mum liked him, and as she's the only Catholic in the house, that's all that counts :) But now, back to the slash.

Well, it made me smile :)

Aaah! He's like the Tom Baker Doctor on acid with the Sylvester McCoy Doctor's sense of fun! (Even if he looks like the roadie for Coldplay...)

And Billie Piper wasn't that annoying... well, she was ignorable...

Sonic Screwdriver!

*squee!*

I'm sitting in a public library writing teh gay porn slash fanfiction.

It's a rather nice juxtaposition. I'm using big words, I must be tired.

Dad's off doing something to the car, hence the library-ness. Forced stop due to engine cut-outtage. Nothing serious, just enough time to get dec off bring the whole sorry affair to a huge angsty end, leaving everyone suicidal write a bit.

Wonder what the well-to-do looking lady next to me (checked shirt and coiffured hair, country chic, answering her email on yahell by the looks of it, touch types faster than I can think) would say if she knew what I was writing?

The filth!

Young people today!

Would Ant really say that?

Oh god, the gay is everywhere, the pastor warned us!

Oooo, boysex!

...I should lay off that really dark chocolate that dad buys...

Speak of the devil... that didn't take long, better wrap this up while he's off washing off the oil...

t'raa!

TMF (MTV lite for those of us with freeview) had a two-hour special tonight - wall to wall spice girls and take that videos. Now, I'm no lover of the spiceies, but I was a huge TT fan, so I watched it for nostalgia's sake.

OMG.

I grew out of Take That around about the same time I grew into slash, so I'd never watched their promo clips with a slashers eye, but now I have? Almost bloody killed me. I'm telling you, I had half a mind to clamber into the attic and pull down all my old TT videos. Only Takes a Minute? Never mind the pretty much superficial female they threw in there, that video was all about the gay subtext, and don't get me started on the fact that cutting the ladies out of the clean version of the already surreal video for Do What U Like only served to make it look like a five-piece gay orgy. With jelly. And leather. And I'd never thought about slashing them! Alright, I copied a slashy-ish chunk out of one of the books (think it was Take That in Private) about Mark and Robbie for someone on the RS-X list many moons ago and I think they got a story out of it, but it had never occured to me. Blimey, do I ever feel daft! :D

I guess going through my most impressionable years on a diet of Take That, AaD and Due South left a pretty discernable mark, eh? ;)
littlemoose: A photograph of a vivd blue swallowtail butterfly against an orange stucco wall (t'muses [credit - madscot (thanks!!)])
Muses live, the moose, she writes! *squee* Aside from that, I've discovered a whole new fandom out there to read (not one I could really write in, not having the requisite comedic skills), one that makes you go - "Why did this never occur to me? I've been watching this show for years!"

HIGNFY

Yes. Yes... I know... but Ian! Paul! Theirloveissosnarky!

*laughs*

Anyone see the mirror today? Verrrrry funny picture of two horrendously hungover geordies about a third of the way in, of course this being the mirror, the main jist of the 'story' is "oh look, they're the wrong way round!" But I'll admit that the general 'oh my god just what did we do last night?' vibe of the picture gave this slasher ideas ;)

And that's it, I'm off to cuddle up to my hot-water bottle and play about with plots :)

SQUEE!

Happy St. Patrick's day to one and all, and happy 25th anniversary to my Mum and Dad :DDDD
littlemoose: A photograph of a vivd blue swallowtail butterfly against an orange stucco wall (everybody knows)
Mum and I are off to see Love Actually tonight :D It's not entirely selfish, the draw of Messers Rickman and Firth was too much for mum to bear it seems ;) (add a couple of Geordies to that and you've just about got my motives too...) and when I told her it was written by the guy who wrote Notting Hill she seemed set on going! *yay*

Aaah, the corruption spreads ;)

Needing to be cheered up, I ended up raiding the old stories on the aadslash archive. Usually when the slash yen hits I head over to Britslash, Fabulae or ORP in search of stories I haven't read before, or hope that Maureen, Emma or Claire have posted something new on aadslash... but sometimes... well, I guess the familiar old stories are the literary equivilant of the comfy old jumper you put on when you're a bit down in the mouth. Familiar, and comfortable, but still as uplifting and special as the first time you encountered it.

It's the same as watching a favourite movie, or digging out that old book you read to death as a teenager (for me, that's The Melanie Pluckrose Effect), something that gives you that comforting feeling that all is right with the world.

Additional: Yes, I'm well aware that it's now been nearly a year since I updated the archive, god help me... I've got a few fics ready to go up now... but don't hold your breath, eh? ;)
