L*** has been spamming me with emails for a few days now, I've been deleting them from my trash folder (where they get filtered to immediately) without reading them, but I clicked into my trash folder without realising there was one there just now and it came up in the preview pane:

if i emailed you every day for the rest of my life would it make any
difference?

I never reply to her, but now I have the urge to. Somehow, though, I don't think NO! in 72pt red arial is going to be enough.

I toyed with the idea of letting a poet do the talking for me... maybe sending her 'The Darling Letters' by Carol Anne Duffy, or 'The End of Love' by Sophie Hannah... probably the darling letters, I think that line 'the heart thudding like a spade on buried bones' might get the point across...

but to be honest, I don't know what to do about her. I know that the way things ended between us was my fault, but it was her who turned into glenn close in fatal attraction... and now she's closed that chapter of her life, turned into the christian suburban poster child and gotten married she thinks she can just what? Pick me up again like a dropped stitch?

I don't know, I honestly don't know. I thought this was all done with. Any ideas?

Ideas?

I have no ideas for the civilised individual.

There are, however, things you can do with bureaucrats and lawyers that will end this, but it should be your "nuclear option" to, say, inform her ISP that you are receiving abusive e-mails or determine if she falls under the laws against computer trespass, harassment, or stalking in your jurisdiction.

I don't know if I'm that civilised, I saw the word 'nuclear' and thought 'oo, there's a thought', took a re-reading to work out it was an analogy...

But thanks for the advice; I really didn't know those options were open to me. I'm hoping it doesn't have to come to my filing a complaint - the idea doesn't give me any pleasure.

*hugs you*

Hun, I'll reply to you in e-mail - I hope that's ok. In the meantime huge *hugs* from someone who had a full day of those 'why don't you e-mail me anymore?' e-mails. It was a day from hell.

on another note, perhaps, if your e-mail client allows, you could set up an autoresponse, filtered on her, to say something like "Your e-mail has been deleted without being read. All future e-mails will be treated the same."

Just a thought...

She may not understand that though, and keep replying going "You must be reading them if you're replying to them!!!!!!" or something.

It's a good idea, admittedly - I'm not sure how many people would manually keep up the pretense of sending that many identical e-mails by hand.

You're right. She would keep replying.

New email addy, perhaps? Either get a new one and use it, or get a new one and have it leaked to her, so she can fill that one up instead.

If she's as batshit insane as she appears, then poems won't work. Veiled requests to stop emailing won't work. My guess is that you'll either have to tell her flat out to stop fucking bothering you, which is far from guaranteed to work ("Ooh! She replied!"), or else continue agressively ignoring her as hard as you can.

Ignoring her and putting her out of mind gives you the added vindictive benefit of having a clean break for yourself, as you know you'll never talk to her again, but gives her a torn, jagged, bloody, messy break as she'll have to slowly arrive at that conclusion herself ;)

Yes he is. But what he says makes perfect sense...

If you reply you're strengthen her resolve and she'll never give up.
Can you block her address?
