Home again, home again. Jaqui is lovely, a complete nutter. She'll be taking me out and about every Thursday from next week, and I'll be seeing Melanie every few weeks. Things are moving on.

Also, I signed up for the Organ Donor Register... something I've been meaning to do for bloody ages, and never got round to. I think it's important, and I'm not able to give blood because of the post 1980 transfusion rule, so...

Public service announcement over. Ag.... why is it every time I turn on the radio they're playing that ruddy D12 track? Yes, fine, you're not a band, jeez...

So, I have to write about a smell for class next week... hmn...

woohoo! *more flag waving*

I've carried a donor card for as long as I can remember - what pisses me off though is that it's not enough - they still seek permission of family - why? As far as I'm concerned, I'm expressing my wishes by carrying the card - what more is there to say?

Sorry - I feel strongly about organ donation - good for you!

Dibs on the kidneys! And the pancreas. I really oughta find out about donating organs and blood myself, actually...

Nice to hear about Jacqui, anyway :) *hughs*

I'm a blood donor myself. It's cool, you get to lie on the most comfy chair/bed thing EVER. And you get free drinks.

I may have to get into that donor thing myself. I am over 18, and I was supposed to get a card from our government. But I think my parents already know I want to be a donor anyway.

I quite like that awful song... Shniffles.

What's the post 1980 transfusion rule?
I used to walk around with this pathetic donor registration card, but I think it's about 10 years old now, so it probably never even counted. Still, I think my family know me well enough to know that I don't mind being cut up and handed out if something were to happen :)

Heh, I have to agree! That should be an option on the register I do not mind being cut up and handed out!

Um, the 1980 rule... if you've recieved blood in or since 1980 you're not allowed to donate any, coz of vCJD... I'd say that rules out a huge chunk of the populace myself, but who are the NHS to consider commonsense?

that's almost as silly as the rule in Belgium that men who've had sex with another man since 1972 (or 1982) can't donate blood....

good grief!Thankfully, I don't think they'd get away with that one here... at least, I hope they wouldn't...

that's the red cross actually... I thought it was the same rule over the world, apparently not...
There's been a lot of debate over it a few months ago. I hope they rethink their discriminatory measure....
