WHAT IS THIS I CAN'T EVEN.

That's it. I would like to tender my resignation from the world of slash. Clearly we none of us are actually needed any more. While that video exists, we are all redundant, seriously.

I was watching The Parting Of The Ways again this morning, while waiting for Kate to come pick me up for our usual Monday coffee and lunch routine. When she arrived I nipped off to get my bag, leaving the vid running, and returned to find her staring at the screen going 'He kissed the Doctor! That guy kissed the Doctor!'

Once it sunk in she didn't seem terribly upset about the Doc getting some snoggage, but I think it broke her brain for a moment there... :)

Here's a fun little juxtaposition - Before dinner, I was reading slash, very explicit NC-17 slash. Just as I was preparing to nip back upstairs to finish the story after dinner, we were visited by the new parish curate on his rounds. Nice fella, for a priest, bit mad, not too up himself, mum liked him, and as she's the only Catholic in the house, that's all that counts :) But now, back to the slash.

Well, it made me smile :)

STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING!

01: Take a screencap of your desktop.

To cap a desktop:
1) Press "Print Screen" (prt sc) button
2) Open your graphics program-o-choice
3) Press CTRL + V
4) Save image as a JPEG

02: Upload the screen cap to your image server.

Don't have one yet? Use Photobucket.

03: Reply to this entry with your screencap or a link to your screencap. Along with any explanations you feel are necessary.

04: Post your cap in YOUR LJ along with these instructions.

I still can't believe I'm admitting to this! In my defence, when I made it, I was bored, and also, I never like just having plain screencaps as a desktop :)

Just seen last night's SNT, on account of I went to bed early, feeling shattered.

The person who tied Ant and Dec up together? So in love with you, you NEED a knighthood!

"Dec: I've got to come like this
Ant: Yeah, yeah, whatever
Dec: Then you go down...
Ant: What?!"

Genius! :D

Oh, and the post-undercover banter? Priceless :)

TMF (MTV lite for those of us with freeview) had a two-hour special tonight - wall to wall spice girls and take that videos. Now, I'm no lover of the spiceies, but I was a huge TT fan, so I watched it for nostalgia's sake.

OMG.

I grew out of Take That around about the same time I grew into slash, so I'd never watched their promo clips with a slashers eye, but now I have? Almost bloody killed me. I'm telling you, I had half a mind to clamber into the attic and pull down all my old TT videos. Only Takes a Minute? Never mind the pretty much superficial female they threw in there, that video was all about the gay subtext, and don't get me started on the fact that cutting the ladies out of the clean version of the already surreal video for Do What U Like only served to make it look like a five-piece gay orgy. With jelly. And leather. And I'd never thought about slashing them! Alright, I copied a slashy-ish chunk out of one of the books (think it was Take That in Private) about Mark and Robbie for someone on the RS-X list many moons ago and I think they got a story out of it, but it had never occured to me. Blimey, do I ever feel daft! :D

I guess going through my most impressionable years on a diet of Take That, AaD and Due South left a pretty discernable mark, eh? ;)

You need to go here, now and relive one of the best SNT moments ever. :) (courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] m_l_h)

Muses live, the moose, she writes! *squee* Aside from that, I've discovered a whole new fandom out there to read (not one I could really write in, not having the requisite comedic skills), one that makes you go - "Why did this never occur to me? I've been watching this show for years!"

HIGNFY

Yes. Yes... I know... but Ian! Paul! Theirloveissosnarky!

*laughs*

Anyone see the mirror today? Verrrrry funny picture of two horrendously hungover geordies about a third of the way in, of course this being the mirror, the main jist of the 'story' is "oh look, they're the wrong way round!" But I'll admit that the general 'oh my god just what did we do last night?' vibe of the picture gave this slasher ideas ;)

And that's it, I'm off to cuddle up to my hot-water bottle and play about with plots :)

Only because the idea of Dec as a Matrix type baddy is rather yummy.... not to mention Ant in all that black leather...

"Does this rag smell like chloroform to you...?" says:
just so long as nothing illegal happens

Izzy Wizzy, Let's Get Busy! says:
it's all between consenting geordies...

"Does this rag smell like chloroform to you...?" says:
well, that's alright then.. actually, the first thing that popped into my mind there was "how MANY consenting geordies?"

Izzy Wizzy, Let's Get Busy! says:
heehee!

"Does this rag smell like chloroform to you...?" says:
giving rise to all sorts of variations on the Burly Brawl scene from the matrix 2

Izzy Wizzy, Let's Get Busy! says:
*falls over*

"Does this rag smell like chloroform to you...?" says:
"mr anthony, we're.. so glad to see you."

Izzy Wizzy, Let's Get Busy! says:
the idea of Agent Donnelly is rather appealing...

"Does this rag smell like chloroform to you...?" says:
of course, he wouldn't stick his HAND into whoever he subsumes..

Izzy Wizzy, Let's Get Busy! says:
*snerk*

Heraldic Slashers:

"She wanted in, I wanted out... and that's the last thing we talked about" Clearly. says:
ah well, now that that's out of the way, let your lapine loose on Word
Flawed, frail shell of skin and bones... says:
hah, I just completed the hunter-seeker algorythm, so ... heehee, I've got a line, does that count as rampant bunny? (that sounds so wrong...)
"She wanted in, I wanted out... and that's the last thing we talked about" Clearly. says:
it doesn't sound wrong if you pretend you're talking about T3H BUNN4Y (sorry ) in a heraldic context
"She wanted in, I wanted out... and that's the last thing we talked about" Clearly. says:
"Twinned runny babbits rampant on a field of sable"... two rabbits on a black thing, basically
Flawed, frail shell of skin and bones... says:
slashy coat of arms, not bad
Flawed, frail shell of skin and bones... says:
or coat of many arms... and legs... and... *is throttled*
"She wanted in, I wanted out... and that's the last thing we talked about" Clearly. says:
nah, that'd be a geordie rampant against... another geordie

Needing to be cheered up, I ended up raiding the old stories on the aadslash archive. Usually when the slash yen hits I head over to Britslash, Fabulae or ORP in search of stories I haven't read before, or hope that Maureen, Emma or Claire have posted something new on aadslash... but sometimes... well, I guess the familiar old stories are the literary equivilant of the comfy old jumper you put on when you're a bit down in the mouth. Familiar, and comfortable, but still as uplifting and special as the first time you encountered it.

It's the same as watching a favourite movie, or digging out that old book you read to death as a teenager (for me, that's The Melanie Pluckrose Effect), something that gives you that comforting feeling that all is right with the world.

Additional: Yes, I'm well aware that it's now been nearly a year since I updated the archive, god help me... I've got a few fics ready to go up now... but don't hold your breath, eh? ;)

Hardly the greatest artistic triumph of the last 24 hours ;) but here's my new signature pic for the mst boards (I DO have a rep to maintain after all... ;-))

Tonight's Saturday Night Takeaway OMFG! I swear, someone at ITV loves us! There was slash in a big way, and when I've recovered enough to watch the tape over I'll no doubt be quoting bits insecsantly... although Declan dangling in mid air surrounded by buff sailors is indelably stamped on my brain! What can I say, I have a small mind, like the beans ;)
