First things first: I know I normally save as a transparent .gif, but this one had so much in it that the gif monster had a real feast, so .png for all and you'll just have to put up with the white background ;) That said:

She really wasn't how I saw her in the films. This is much closer. I always envisioned this terribly upper-class, batshit insane, jolly-hockey-sticks sort of person. You know the kind; if she were a muggle she'd be ex-RAF - which inspired the robe and scarf, of course. I really wanted to do little flying goggles on top of her head as well (which is why the hair is flat on top...) but they just wouldn't work...

Following random podcast links (I was listening back to old episodes of Coverville), I came across a series called The Secrets of Harry Potter, produced by a Dutch priest, who also makes a series called Catholic Insider. Thinking this was going to be a rant, and the secret would be 'EVIL EVIL, MY GOD, IT'S EVIL!' I added the feed to iPodder and prepared to laugh myself stupid. I am happy to admit I was wrong. This is a very interesting, humorous, sweet-natured look at the myths, history and, yes, bible stories that have influenced the series. You can download the episodes (or subscribe, if you have podcast catching software) here.

Two in fact, HP themed, both. Fleur Delacour and The Fat Lady. Fleur's robes took forever. I'd have liked to have the Fat Lady reclining on a chaise longue or such, but couldn't find a suitably curvy base in the right pose, so she's looking rather stern and sentry-ish, which works too!

Well now... that was... something.

spoilers - if you don't know what for, go and never darken my LJ Cut again! )

I liked it. I have not reread and will not reread OotP, but I have a feeling I'll come back to this one. I think three things are plain - JKR's enjoying writing again, she listened to people telling her she needs an editor (there was one on this book, according to Leaky), and now everything's starting to tie up she's gotten into a swing.

Let's hope 7 is as good as GoF was. :)

I have made (never look a gift photoshop in the mouth, folks!) hogwarts crest icons for each of the houses (I wanted a gryffindor one for ages, but there were none I liked...). Want, take (but credit please?); that's why I made all the houses, even though I'll never use them :)

Edited to make a little tweak to the Gryffindor one

Hello :)

So, I'm turning into a total social butterfly :) Tonight, there's a pub quiz in aid of the Malta in Ballymena - Dad and I are the useless trivia people, so if we can land up on the same team as a sport person, we're minted :D And today dad picked up the tickets I bought for the theatre next month. We're going to Coleraine to see a reworking of the nativity in the style of a Frank Capra movie. It sounds fun.

Next thurday is Jaqui day with a difference, and I'm already up to high doe. We're doing the train. *gulp* There are backups in place, in case we get there but can't face the train back - Melanie's going to hang on at the Mental Health unit so she can give us a lift back in if it all goes Pete Tong. *double gulp*

My journal is called Slashy Avenger's Secret HQ. Um, the persona of the Slashy Avenger was born on the old and now deceased Ant and Dec Lovers' Club on Yahoo, and was the sidekick to Bondage Girl, the alter-ego of the head mod. There was a whole running gag about our less than super superhero adventures.

My subtitle is called Sometimes you just stand there, hip-deep in pie. It's a line from Sports Night. I think the exchange sums up life quite nicely:
Dan: Sometimes, standing there and taking all those pies to the face is good, something good happens. How did your day go?
Casey: Sometimes you just stand there, hip-deep in pie.
Also, I've had 'throw a custard pie' as my 'leave message' text for a while, and I thought it went well with it ;)

My Friends page is called the Rogues Gallery. Because I am mean and have no imagination :P

My username is Littlemoose. Moose was a favoured good-natured insult on the aforementioned Ant and Dec fan community and I am small. QED.

My Default User Pic is Stitch! No deep reason, it just made me laugh. I have a lot of user pics (mum bought me extra userpic space :D:D) I love making them and love coming across really cute or clever ones :)

Mum and I went to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban last night. Have to say, following other people's views of the film, online and off, I had mixed feelings about the whole thing, but on the whole, I enjoyed it.

The film: LJ cut due to minor spoilers )

I was going to go into a lot more detail about the cuts, fades and transitions, and how the passage of time was displayed - all of which impressed me greatly - but felt that I was getting far too immersed in media student geekiness! So, have today's last little bit of Potterania, courtesy of Ms [livejournal.com profile] dracothelizard

Your Patronus is the Horse! The horse is a symbol
of physical and spiritual power and is also a
bearer of burdens. He is a powerful ally
against your enemies.

That your Patronus is a horse says that you are a
strong person--strong enough to bear others'
burdens when they become too much. Be careful
to consider yourself and you will be a terrific
witch or wizard.

Woke up to the lovely smell of fresh coffee this morning. Dad got Peurto Rican blend on offer in Tesco and since his old percolator died a death a while back, jerry-rigged a percolator using filters and a sieve! Showed me how to do it, so I'll have a supply of caffine for the big read-in ;-)

Got my email from Amazon, The Book is coming! *getting excited now*

Didn't make it to the dentist... but this minor setback was tempered with a minor triumph - I phoned to arrange a new appointment myself. This is a big thing, talking to strangers on the phone, or anyone in an official capacity, being another big difficulty. It wasn't so bad though, the new receptionist turned out to be an old school friend. Small world. So, one step back, one step forward... standing still!

Can't decide whether I want to know The Name or not... I managed to hold on last time, and not flick through the book to see who died, so it was more of a jolt when Cedric got zapped... but I really don't want it to be Dumbie... or Hagrid for that matter, but I think it will be the giant... I don't think [livejournal.com profile] madscot has anything to worry about re Snape, though - Paxo was as much in the dark about the book as any of us - and Harry needs an advisary in power, his spats with Draco are annoying to him, but he doesn't have any power to really hurt him in the same way that Snape does.

*huggles Madscot* Thanks for the email, I understood... not sure I deserve all that, but I understood. Thanks.

So... time passing, and hope The Book shows tomorrow and not Monday, or I may explode! ;-)

One last thing - the Guardian's been running a competition to write a first page of HP5... you have to check this one out, it's bloody hillarious!
